Welcome to Cochrane Emergency and Critical Care (EC)
We are part of Cochrane which is an international not-for-profit independent organization, dedicated to making up-to-date, accurate information about the effects of healthcare readily available worldwide.
We are an international group of vibrant clinicians and statisticians, supported by administrative assistance, Information Specialist and a Managing Editor, aiming to publish and promote systematic reviews of healthcare interventions in many potentially life-threatening conditions, including non-trauma resuscitation. This encompasses the care of critically ill people in intensive care units, hospital emergency departments, and those treated by pre-hospital emergency medical services (apart from those who have been injured).
The first informational meeting was held during the European Society of Anaesthesiologists' Annual Meeting in Barcelona (April 1998), followed by informational meetings in Orlando during the American Society of Anesthesiologists' annual meeting (1998) and at the Cochrane Colloquium in Baltimore (October 1998). The exploratory meeting was held in Amsterdam (May 1999) and Cochrane Anaesthesia, Critical, and Emergency Care Group was registered within the Cochrane on February 8, 2000.
In 2018, Cochrane Anaesthesia, Critical, and Emergency Care Group split into two separate Groups: Cochrane Anaesthesia and Cochrane Emergency and Critical Care.
